Lessons You Must Learn from the Biggest Women Entrepreneurs of All Time

Business can be tough, and if you are a woman, you’ll know there will be very specific challenges that you will have to take. However, you are not the only one who has undertaken a project within a competitive community.

There are many tools at your disposal to grow your business, such as business loans for women like those offered by Camino Financial. Also, many successful women will inspire you, and thanks to their ups and downs, today, you can learn these great lessons on entrepreneurship.

    Consistency Is the Key

When Madam C.J. Walker started her business selling cosmetics for curly hair, very few believed in her. She had many things against her favor, as she was a black woman during segregation in the United States.

Even though she suffered many attacks, she managed to consolidate her brand and became the first and richest black woman through her work.

If you want to consolidate your brand but do not have enough funds, remember that you can apply for business loans for women.

    Dare to Make a Difference

People were shocked when Coco Chanel started marketing pants. At that point in history, she could have played it safe and made conventional womenswear, but she didn’t want to be one of the bunch. Thanks to her irreverence, today, pants are part of the wardrobe of the vast majority of women in the world.

The experience of this French designer teaches us that sometimes you have to take risks to win big. But not everything was easy for Coco Chanel. Of course, she was highly criticized at the beginning of her career, but she believed so much in her project that she managed to convince others of the uniqueness of her ideas.

On the other hand, she decided to target an audience that, although perhaps wasn’t very big (since it wasn’t usual for women to wear pants), would identify entirely with her brand and products.

Your Past Does Not Define Your Future

It doesn’t matter how many times you have tried to start a business and how many times you have failed. Each experience leaves a lesson that will better prepare you to take on the next challenge. An example of this is Oprah Winfrey. Apart from having a very tough childhood and life, she was also fired from various jobs that seemed very promising.

But if you think about it, if Oprah had never been fired from those jobs, she would have stayed comfortable, working on some television network for years, and maybe she would never have started her show. Today she is one of the most successful women in the world, and she continues to produce and create new projects.

    Failures Shouldn’t Stop You

When J.K. Rowling wrote Harry Potter, publishers weren’t even interested in publishing her book. This writer tried tirelessly to get someone to buy her idea until, after many rejections, someone decided to accept her manuscript. Upon being published, Harry Potter became a bestseller.

Can you imagine if J.K. Rowling had given up on the first rejection? To the second? Fortunately, she firmly believed in the potential of her job, and she never gave up. Remember that if you don’t believe in yourself, why would others?

There will be times where you will run into companies who will not want to finance your projects. Don’t let them stop you, and remember that you can opt for business loans for women to make your business grow.

    Embrace Small Beginnings

At the beginning of her career, Josephine Esther Mentzer, also known as Estée Lauder, never imagined how big her brand would become. Her uncle began to teach her to make her first formulas, and they both worked together in a small laboratory.

Josephine began selling her cosmetics in hotels, and that’s how she gained her first clients. Today, Estée Lauder is one of the most recognized cosmetic brands in the world. In 1978, she became the first woman to receive the French Knight of the Legion of Honor award due to her incredible accomplishments as a female entrepreneur.

Less than thirty years later, she was already a billionaire. The Estée Lauder story teaches us that starting without many resources shouldn’t be a discouragement. It has to start somewhere, and there is nothing wrong with doing it small. You just have to be constant.

    Have the Ability to Adapt

Sophia Amoruso’s story is so incredible that it was even turned into a Netflix series: Girlboss. She achieved success after opening an eBay store where she sold used vintage clothing. With a lot of effort and work, she created her own independent store, and her success was massive. But before tasting glory, Sophia had to live tough times.

Due to her financial need, she even dropped out of school and began to work in different places such as Subway, record stores, and bookstores, among others. While she lived in California, many times, she had to live by constantly moving and even had moments where she had nothing to eat.

However, even though she didn’t own a store or a business at the time, her adaptability was what kept her afloat. She was always looking for what to do, how to meet her needs, and how to achieve her goals.

In fact, when she opened her eBay store, she was working as a security officer at a museum. Even though her circumstances forced her to work on something that she didn’t want, she never lost sight of her primary goal: to have her store.

    Write Your Own Story

There is no single way to be successful, so don’t feel bad when you see others having success with strategies that don’t work for you. Grow at your own pace, but make sure you stay motivated and push yourself to grow your business.

We hope these stories inspire and encourage you to keep working, believe in yourself, and dare to do great things, even when situations are tough.
